CHOCOLATE PECAN TURTLE CLUSTERS

Introduction
If you’ve never tried Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters, prepare yourself — these little bites of heaven are a dangerous delight! Buttery, crunchy pecans covered in gooey caramel and rich chocolate… every bite is pure indulgence.

I started making these about a year ago, and now, my friends and family have officially dubbed them “crack candy.” Why? Because once you start snacking, it’s impossible to stop!

Whether you’re gifting them for the holidays, bringing them to a party, or just treating yourself after a long day, these homemade turtles will melt your heart — and quite possibly, your self-control!

A Sweet History
The “turtle” candy originated in the early 1900s, when a chocolatier accidentally noticed that a cluster of caramel, pecans, and chocolate resembled the shape of a turtle — with the pecans sticking out like little legs!

Since then, these candies have become a classic American confection, often made in candy shops and now in our own cozy kitchens.

Ingredients
For the Clusters:

2 ½ cups pecan halves (lightly toasted for extra flavor)
½ cup butter (salted, for that perfect sweet-salty balance)
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
½ cup light corn syrup
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Topping:

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate if you prefer sweeter)
1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening (for a glossy, smooth finish)
